Huge lorry stuck on narrow hill centimetres from front of house for four hours

A lorry blocked a Haverfordwest street for about four hours, despite a sign warning HGV drivers not to venture there.

The incident in Tower Hill was reported to Dyfed-Powys Police at 7.43am today and wasn't cleared until 11.30am.

Pictures from the scene show the lorry pinned between St Mary's Church boundary wall and a property. The end of the lorry appears to be just centimetres from the front of a house.

According to Dyfed-Powys Police, the driver was reported for numerous traffic offences, nobody was injured, and the damage to the house would be dealt with through insurance.

Tower Hill has been the site of several lorries becoming stuck in the last few weeks.

Residents have said they are baffled because there is a clear sign, but heavy vehicles and caravans are still often directed there by sat-navs.

A spokesman for Pembrokeshire County Council said: "There is a road sign in place at the location advising of the hill’s unsuitability for HGVs.

"Ultimately it is the responsibility of the driver to assess whether the road is suitable for the vehicle he is driving."
