Huge fireball engulfs Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket after dramatic explosion seen from 115 miles away

Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin rocket exploded into a huge fireball on a launch pad during an engine test in Florida.

Footage shows the rocket engulfed in flames seconds after the scheduled “hotfire” test at 9pm EST on Thursday (28 May).

Blue Origin, owned by the Amazon founder, said that it had "experienced an anomaly" during the test. All personnel were accounted for, safe and uninjured, said Bezos, as he commented on the “very rough day”.

“We’ll rebuild whatever needs rebuilding and get back to flying. It’s worth it,” he said on social media.

The explosion was so powerful that it could be seen from 115 miles away in Fort Pierce.
