Huge emergency service response after crash involving British Transport Police car

Police, fire and ambulance crews rushed to the scene following a smash involving a British Transport Police car in Clayton.

A grey Honda Estate collided with the police car on Alan Turing Way, at the junction with Ashton New Road, at 5.30pm on Monday.

A spokesman for GMP said no one was believed to be seriously injured.

No arrests were made.

The spokesman said: "We were called at 5.30pm to Alan Turing Way to a collision involving a BTP vehicle.

"A grey Honda Estate crashed with a Ford Kuga.

"The ambulance was called and there was a big fire service presence."

A number of road closures were put in place following the crash.

TfGM warned motorists to 'approach with caution'.

The transport body tweeted just before 6pm to say: "Due to an RTC one lane is blocked inbound on Ashton Old Road at the junction of Alan Turing Way.

"Pottery Lane is also closed southbound between Ashton Old Road and Gorton Road. Approach with caution."
