Huge Edinburgh beer garden opens next to George Square with heated beach huts and cocktails

A new beer garden in Edinburgh has proved very popular since opening in the grounds of Edinburgh University.

'The Garden at Teviot' was one of the many outdoor watering holes that reopened on April 26, with locals desperate to meet up for a few drinks.

Tucked away next to George Square, the garden has seen hundreds of customers in recent days, as it offers a fully undercover service from the rain.

With the weather playing anything but ball over the last week, the venue has been able to keep their drinkers dry, with a huge overhead sail keeping their picnic benches out of the downpours.

In addition, there are also a selection of heated beach huts that can be booked out for groups of up to six people and even have their own individual TV's that can be set up for sports matches and other events.

Open from 12-10pm seven days a week, the garden has advised booking in advance to ensure a spot, with their food and drink menus also proving to be a big hit.

Featuring cocktail 'trees' and the university's classic 'Teviot Nachos', staff have urged that tables can be booked by anyone, as well as students.

The bar was one of many in Edinburgh to reopen last month, all of which are permitted to serve alcohol outside until 10pm. On May 17 this rule is set to change, with alcohol also to be served inside from that date.
