Emergency services have raced to a huge blaze at the George IV Bridge in Edinburgh this morning.
The fire service is currently battling the inferno as the road has been completely closed in both directions.
It is understood that fire crews are working to extinguish a blaze at the Elephant House cafe.
Smoke has also reportedly been seen coming from between the Frankenstein's pub and the Patisserie Valerie.
Police, fire fighters and ambulance crews are currently on scene after being alerted to the blaze around 6.45am on Tuesday.
It is not yet known if anyone has been injured in the fire.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue service confirmed they currently had nine appliances in attendance.
A Police Scotland statement said: "Our officers are currently assisting the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service dealing with a large fire at George IV Bridge.
"Please be aware that there are numerous road closures in the vicinity of George IV Bridge and Candlemaker Row at present and avoid the area where possible."
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 0639 hours today to attend an incident at George IV Bridge in Edinburgh with our first resource arriving on scene at 0646.
"We dispatched two ambulances, one advanced paramedic and our special operations team to the scene.”
