When a couple become a family thoughts turn to security and for one local family that meant buying a home of their own.
By searching out the right schemes for them, the family, who had previously been living with their parents in Mansfield, where able to buy their new home at a Nottinghamshire new homes development.
Emma Rydings and Michael Campbell, together with their young daughter, have moved into David Wilson Homes’ Berry Hill development in Mansfield.
A move made possible by using the government's Help to Buy scheme.
The couple saved enough for a five per cent deposit and then bought a three-bedroom Archford home with the assistance of the Help to Buy scheme, a government-backed initiative which allows buyers of all kinds to purchase a home with just a five percent deposit and a 75 percent mortgage.
The remaining 20 percent is funded by an equity loan, interest-free for the first five years and repayable on the sale on the property.

Their decision to buy a new build also meant that they could move into their home quickly without having to spend time on building works, an ideal choice when moving with a young family.
Location was another part of Emma and Michael’s decision and it was the balance of rural and town life offered at Berry Hill that they say was a significant factor in moving there. The town centre is only a 10 minute drive away.
Emma said: "The position of our new home is perfect because the town centre is so nearby, yet the area is nice and quiet with a number of parks where we can spend time with our daughter.
"This makes it ideal for families like us who want to live in a quieter area which still has great road and transport links that allow us to get to work and visit family easily."
And it seems that the house buying process was easier than they had anticipated.
Michael said: "David Wilson Homes has been amazing. From looking around the show home to moving in, the team have given us advice and support every step of the way.
"With it being the first time either of us had bought a new home, we were really glad of the help they gave us throughout the process."
Now that the couple have moved into their new home, they are keen to get settled in and start enjoying the features offered by the home and the local area.
