Outlander season six is looking for Scots to work on the show

Scots are wanted to work on the sixth series of .

Producers of the hit TV series are on the hunt for trainees to work in plastering, painting, costume design and more.

On Wednesday Screen Scotland announced the vacancies on social media.

A tweet from the TV chiefs read: "Fancy working and gaining experience with the hardy Outlander crew?

"The Outlander Training Programme is now open for applications, with roles in production, costume, plastering, painting and locations."

The Starz show is primarily filmed in Scotland, with a number of scenes shot in Cumbernauld.

Crew have also travelled to more exotic locations such as Cape Town, South Africa and Prague, Czech Republic.

A statement on the Screen Scotland website read: "The popular TV show Outlander represents a significant production spend and training opportunity for Scotland.

"Since Outlander began filming in Scotland in 2014, Screen Scotland, Outlander and ScreenSkills have co-funded a traineeships programme across all departments including camera, costume, design, assistant director, art department, effects and production, to approximately twenty trainees per series.

"We are delighted to announce that the 2020 Training Programme for season six is now open for applications.

"The programme is currently looking for applications for production design, costume, plastering and painting."

Other job openings later in the year include armoury, assistant director, camera, grip, post production, props, SFX, sound and VFX.

Last month how Scots fans went into meltdown when the trailer for season five was released.

The teaser shows Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe face their toughest test yet.

Characters Jamie and Claire Fraser settle into their new life on Fraser's Ridge in the US following the end of series four.

But it's not long before their peace is shattered by the start of the American revolution as Jamie is forced into hunting Scottish regulators who oppose British taxation.

The first episode of season five airs on Sunday, February 16.
