How to watch Road Cycling World Championships: Live stream the action from Glasgow and Stirling

Albert Philipsen

The 2023 Road Cycling World Championships are part of the biggest cycling event ever as one of 13 World Championship events rolled into one festival of cycling in Glasgow and around Scotland. You can follow the action on GCN+ and Eurosport (via Discovery Plus) in the UK, FloBikes in the US, and for free on BBC iPlayer in the UK and SBS On Demand in Australia, so make sure you know how to watch for free with a VPN from anywhere.

The road events headline both weekends of the championships through the men's and women's elite road races. Road racing kicked off on August 5 in the junior road races the day before the highly anticipated men's road race. Time trials fill the week after before the events come to a close with the women's elite road race on 13 August. Glasgow and Stirling host the finishes for all the road events and will be the arena for some of cycling's biggest names. Denmark's Albert Philipsen took an explosive solo win in the men's junior road race, after Julie Bego rode away from the field in the women's race to claim the first road rainbow jersey of the championships for France. With the elite events still to come, look out for big names in Tadej Pogačar, Remco Evenepoel and Mathieu Van der Poel on the men's side, and Demi Vollering, Lotte Kopecky and Lorena Wiebes in the women's races.

Tomorrow sees the biggest road event of the 2023 championships as the elite men's road race gets underway. It starts in Edinburgh and finishes in Glasgow after 271km of brutal racing. Once that is done, the women's road race will be the biggest remaining race and takes place a week later. Scroll down to the end of the article for a summary of the timings for each of the medal events.

Road cycling is only one part of the Cycling World Championships 2023, and it will bring the best the  sport has to offer to the roads across seven days of exciting racing. Luckily, with free-to-air options available in the UK and Australia, it is easy to watch. Below we explain everything you need to know to watch a Road Cycling World Championships live stream this year.

Try out Express VPN for its speed, security and simplicity to use. It is also compatible with a range of devices and streaming services (e.g. Amazon Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Xbox, PS4, etc.), giving you the option to watch wherever you want.

A VPN is a piece of software which offers both online privacy and ability to change your IP address, meaning that you can access on-demand content or live TV like you would back at home while in another country. There are other great options out there, of course, and plenty of free VPNs but our sister site TechRadar recommends the paid-for ExpressVPN, which it consistently rates as the best VPN provider.
