Liverpool will look to build some positive momentum as they welcome Sunderland to Anfield this evening.
The Reds arrested a miserable run on Saturday as they eked out a 2-0 win over West Ham at the London Stadium, with British record signing Alexander Isak opening the scoring with his first Premier League goal for the club.
The task at hand for Liverpool is now to build on that result and restore some morale to the squad ahead of a hectic run of festive fixtures.
Arne Slot knows the Black Cats will prove to be a tough test, though. They sit sixth in the table after 13 matches, just one point clear of Liverpool.
Speaking pre-match, the Dutchman said: “I saw the game Chelsea vs Arsenal on the way home, two teams working so hard and fighting. Then I was aware of the fact Sunderland beat Chelsea away and drew with Arsenal.
“They are resilient. They have shown great mentality but the style they play and risks they take when not having ball, very high-paced game and players work so hard to get a result.”
