Having looked rock solid almost throughout the debut run of the series, Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Mandy (Emily Osment) have finally given us an inkling of why their marriage won't go the distance. Their respective career breakthroughs — Mandy landing a full-time weather reporter job and Georgie taking over Jim's auto and tire shop — are going to come at a price.

That's because Mandy and her boss Scott (Christopher Gorham) have history. Steamy, complex, seemingly unresolved history. Scott wasn't just Mandy's boss in San Antonio — he was her boyfriend too. He was vehemently against Mandy taking the job, but relented because they needed the money. In a neat parallel, Audrey's (Rachel Bay Jones) old high-school boyfriend Fred (Matt Letscher) put Jim (Jim Sasso) on the spot with a takeover offer. Swayed by the death of George, Jim reluctantly embraced the idea of retirement, but driven by twin desires to keep the shop in the family and to prove himself a worthy adversary to Scott, Georgie hastily concocted an imperfect counter-offer.
The result? A deal that's left Georgie heavily indebted to the bank, Jim kicking his heels with no Plan B and Fred seeking retribution. At least Ruben's (Jessie Prez) no longer out in the cold, but he could well be the one to push Georgie over the edge.
