New Orleans had some help on special teams in their 33-27 victory at Seattle last weekend. Deonte Harris returned a punt 53 yards for a touchdown. Teddy Bridgewater, in his first start since replacing the injured Drew Brees, completed 19 of 27 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns. Alvin Kamara added 69 yards and a rushing touchdown to his 92 yards receiving with a touchdown. The offensive production was a welcome scene for a team that currently ranks 26th in the league in total yards per game.
Russell Wilson lit up the defense to the tune of 406 yards passing and two touchdowns, as well as 51 yards and two touchdowns rushing. If the Saints have the same issues with Dak Prescott and Dallas, it’s going to be a long night. The Cowboys have one of the best offenses in the NFL and can beat you with both the pass and the run. Marshon Lattimore led the New Orleans defense with 12 tackles, while Demario Davis and Vonn Bell each had nine.
The Dallas Cowboys are a perfect 3-0 heading into Monday night’s tilt with the Saints. Their offense is one of the best in the NFL and currently ranks third in total offense (481.3 YPG), fourth in passing (302.3 YPG) and third in rushing (179 YPG). That will give any defense fits and the Saints are no exception. Against Miami, quarterback Dak Prescott threw for 246 yards, two touchdowns, and one rushing touchdown. Both passing touchdowns were to Amari Cooper, who is having another Pro Bowl caliber season. Running back Ezekiel Elliot rushed for 125 yards–his second straight game over the 100 mark. This year he has a partner in crime in the backfield in rookie Tony Pollard, who added 103 yards and one touchdown in the game. Jason Witten, who came out of retirement to once again play for the Cowboys, added 53 yards.
Miami’s offense isn’t very good to put it nicely, but the Dallas defense had another impressive outing. Jaylon Smith notched 10 tackles. Smith is on a tear with 21 tackles in his last two games. Chidobe Awuzie added eight more tackles and the defensive unit as a whole had three sacks in the game.
