How to watch 'Christy' online from anywhere — stream Sydney Sweeney boxing biopic

Christy on HBO Max.

Sydney Sweeney takes on one of her most demanding roles yet in "Christy", a biographical sports drama about trailblazing boxer Christy Martin.

Here's how you can watch "Christy" online around the world and from anywhere with a VPN.

'Christy' release date and time

"Christy" starts streaming on HBO Max on Friday, April 10, 2026. In the U.S., it will be available to HBO Max subscribers at no extra cost from that date.

Directed by David Michôd, the film follows Martin's rise through the 1990s boxing scene while also dealing with the abuse and control that defined much of her private life.

Beginning with Martin's cocksure emergence as the most famous face in American women's boxing, the biopic follows 'The Coal Miner's Daughter' outside the ring as her relationship with manager-turned-husband, Jim, turns increasingly toxic and violent.

Sweeney stars as Christy. Ben Foster co-stars as Jim Martin, with Merritt Wever, Katy O'Brian, Chad L. Coleman and Ethan Embry also in the cast.

"Christy" had its theatrical run in late 2025 – and was a box-office bomb, which is unfair because it's far better than that – and now heads to HBO Max on Friday, April 10, 2026, as part of the streamer's April lineup in U.S.. If you don't want to wait, the film is already available to rent or buy on major digital stores in several regions.

Here's how to watch "Christy" online, including the HBO Max debut, digital options in the U.K., Canada and Australia, and how to keep watching if you're abroad.

Watch 'Christy' from anywhere

Traveling and blocked from your usual apps? A VPN, or virtual private network, lets your device appear to be back in your home country, so you can securely use your existing subscriptions while abroad.

We have tested many options, and the best VPN available right now is NordVPN. It offers fast, reliable connections and works across a wide range of devices. You can try it risk-free for 30 days thanks to its money-back guarantee.

Using a VPN is incredibly simple.

1. Install the VPN of your choice. As we've said, NordVPN is our favorite.

2. Choose the location you wish to connect to in the VPN app. For instance, if you're visiting the U.K. and want to view a U.S. service, you'd select a U.S. server from the location list.

3. Sit back and enjoy the show. Head to your streaming service app — so HBO Max, for example — and watch "Christy" online from wherever you are in the world.

Watch 'Christy' in Canada

In Canada, "Christy" is currently available for digital purchase or rental on Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video.

A Canadian subscription streaming date has not been formally confirmed alongside the HBO Max announcement in the U.S. For now, digital is the clearest option if you're watching from Canada.

Abroad? Don't panic. You just need one of the best VPNs to log in back home to use HBO Max, as it will be geo-blocked. We recommend NordVPN.

Watch 'Christy' in the U.K.

There is no confirmed U.K. subscription streaming home for "Christy" yet, but the film is available to rent or buy digitally. Current options include Sky Store and Rakuten TV.

That means U.K. viewers don't need to wait for a separate streaming launch to watch now. However, we would expect "Christy" to form part of the newly launched HBO Max offering in the U.K. pretty soon.

An American in the U.K. who wants to catch the show? Don't panic. You will need a good streaming VPN to log in back home to use their preferred domestic streaming platform. We recommend NordVPN.

Watch 'Christy' in Australia

Australian viewers can watch "Christy" now through digital storefronts, including Apple TV.

There is no confirmed Australian subscription streaming release at the time of writing. "Christy" coming to HBO Max in Australia at some point is likely, though nothing has yet been confirmed.

If you prefer physical media, the film is also available on DVD in Australia through Roadshow Entertainment.

Remember, if you are working or on vacation Down Under and you want to catch the show on your usual domestic streamer, you can do so by using a VPN such as NordVPN.
