How to stop Vox Relay from destroying Fairfield in Outer Worlds 2

After you have dealt with Brigadier Montelli in The Saboteur of Paradise quest in The Outer Worlds 2, the only thing left to do is find de Vries’ safe room and get out of the Vox Relay Station. However, a self-destruct sequence will commence when you access the safe room and watch Vries’ pre-recorded message on her private terminal.

At this point, if you choose to escape, the Vox Relay station will crash on Fairfield and destroy everything except Ethel’s Lab. It will also automatically fail all Fairfield-related side quests, and that’s something you probably don’t want to happen.

Thankfully, there’s a way to prevent all of that. This guide explains all possible ways to stop Vox Relay from destroying Fairfield in The Outer Worlds 2.

To prevent Vox Relay from destroying Fairfield, you must have either helped Milverstreet or Kaur with their respective side quests. Next, look for the Vox Secure Connection Interface outside de Vries’ safe room. Here, use the De Vries’ Rootkit to access the terminal and unlock the safe room.

If you haven’t found the rootkit, look around the room for White Chocolate Yummies, which is the rootkit in disguise. Alternatively, if you have invested in the Observation skill, you can discover the safe room yourself.

Now is the important bit—once you have watched de Vries’ message, interact with the Vox Secure Connection Interface again to find up to three locations where you can redirect Vox Relay’s trajectory.

If you have completed Milverstreet’s ‘A Refreshing Bit of News’ and ‘The Brain Benders of Auntie’s Choice!’ quests or Kaur’s ‘Above and Beyond Repair’ quest, you will get the option to redirect Vox Relay to Westport, Space, and a random location based on your Luck Stat.

To set its destination to Space, you will need a Bypass Shunt and four points in Hacking. You won’t need perks or items to send it to Westport, though; depending on the choices you took earlier, it can have serious consequences.

Should you redirect Vox Relay to Wesport in Outer Worlds 2?

We recommend redirecting Vox Relay to Wesport only if you successfully manage to convince Vigilant Hogarth and his followers to relocate to Fairfield in ‘The Brain Benders of Auntie’s Choice!’ quest. Otherwise, there will be severe casualties, and all Westport-related side quests will be lost.

Even if you didn’t relocate members of Wesport to Fairfield, fret not. The losses will be relatively less compared to Fairfield–sometimes you have to choose between evil and lesser evil, which is exactly what you would expect to hear from an evil corporation’s face person, in this case, Milverstreet.
