An expert has revealed his top designer handbag checks, which he says take 30 seconds to show you if an item is a counterfeit.
This Morning presenter Dan Hatfield showed Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard his simple checks, which included spotting changes to the plating of labels inside the products, and smelling the bag inside to check if it smells of classic leather rather than a chemical smell.
According to the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), an organisation responsible for managing EU trade marks and registered European Union designs, authorities across the union seized more than 112 million counterfeit items, with an estimated retail value of €3.8 billion, in 2024.
