Ahead of the presidential election in November, millions of eligible Americans will need to register to vote prior to heading to the polls.
National Voter Registration Day aims to give a boost to the number of voters registered in the US. And as election day inches closer and closer, so do the deadlines to register in all 50 states.
This Tuesday, thousands of organisations will band together in a massive ground campaign at libraries, retail shops, college campuses, transit hubs, and music venues to raise awareness about voter registration, and to hopefully get millions of potential voters to sign up.
“One goal of the campaign [is to] empower more people to enter the democracy,” Matt Singer, founder of National Voter Registration Day, told the Huffington Post.
There are plenty of resources out there for people interested in renewing their voter registration.
The National Voter Registration Day website offers online registration.
Every state has different voting regulations. Visit vote411.org to find yours.
If you were convicted of a felony, you will have to contact your local election official to find out if you are eligible to register.
