How To Play Open Runs in NBA 2K26

NBA 2K26 brings a new set of challenges to MyCareer by refreshing the Open Run game mode. While present in the previous entry, NBA 2K26 adds more depth to this mode, so players always have something to stay hooked on during their overall career journey.

Although Open Runs may seem like a side activity rather than a priority, they are essential to complete the merchandising tier 1 in MyCareer. In this guide, I’ll break down how to play the Open Run games in 2K26, as taking them seriously is important for progression.

What Are Open Runs?

If we rewind to NBA 2K25, Open Runs were 5v5 matches where you take on NBA players. During the off-season in MyCareer, you play open court games, invite teammates, and scrimmage with free agents. In NBA 2K26, this entire phenomenon is replicated, albeit in a separate facility known as “Open Courts Athletics.” You need to play 2 Open Run games to complete Merchandising Tier 1 and earn the rewards.

Where Are Open Runs In 2K26?

To compete in these 5v5 matches, find Open Court Athletics in the City. This training gym sits opposite The Track, just on the right-hand side of Triple Threat Park. Once you reach, head inside and look for a board with a green triangle glowing below, that’s your Open Run Matchup screen. Simply access this board, select the team of NBA stars you want to take on, and dive into Open Runs in NBA 2K26.

How To Nail Open Runs?

Open Runs are supposed to be fun, but these can be a pain to deal with, especially for rookies. Since this mode puts you up against NBA players, these games can bring more harm than joy if you dive into the court with less confidence. Go all-in, make the most out of your teammates, utilize every bit of your player’s strength, and dive into the court with the best settings, to bring in some wins.

This is everything you need to know regarding Open Runs in NBA 2K26. We recommend making these games a daily part of your routines as they not only reward bonuses but also help you gain additional player experience. In the meantime, you can also stay immersed in the FIBA Tournaments.
