For most players, Friends Only is the best option. It keeps random players out while letting people on your friends list join immediately.
Once the Convoy is active, invite your friends and return to free roam. Your group can then drive together, start events, and move around the map while staying connected.
How to join friends on Steam
If you are playing on Steam, you can join a friend after they have created a Convoy. Open the Steam overlay with Shift+Tab, open the Friends & Chat window, right-click your friend, and select Join Game.
After returning to free roam, you should be added to their Convoy.
This is useful if the in-game invite does not show up properly or if your group is split between Steam and Microsoft services. Steam still relies on the game’s online systems once you are inside, so make sure everyone is updated and signed in correctly.
Can Xbox and PC players play together?
Yes, Forza Horizon 6 supports online play between Xbox and PC players. If your group is split between Xbox Series X|S, the Xbox app on PC, and Steam, make sure everyone is using the correct Microsoft account.
Why can’t I join my friend in Forza Horizon 6?
If you cannot join a friend, first check the basics. Make sure everyone has finished the opening tutorial and unlocked online features. Also, make sure everyone is on the same game version, especially after patches or playlist updates.
On PC, keep Xbox Game Bar enabled and sign in to the same Microsoft account you use for Forza Horizon 6. If invites are not appearing, try joining through Steam, Xbox App, or the in-game Convoy menu instead of relying on only one method.
