Greggs has spilled the beans on how to make one of its most popular products from the comfort of your own home.
The Newcastle-based bakery and food-on-the-go chain has shared a recipe and video explaining how to make a Sausage, Bean and Cheese Melt, in the first of its #GreggsItYourself (GIY) series.
A Greggs spokesperson said: “With everyone stuck at home and missing their Greggs, we hope ‘GIY’ will provide a bit of light relief, as well as filling a void until we’re able to open again.
“Whilst all the team are looking forward to be back serving customers as soon as it’s safe to do so, hopefully everyone can get their bake on and have a bit of fun creating some of their favourite Greggs products.
"We’re already enjoying seeing the fantastic efforts that have been shared via #GreggsItYourself.”
Greggs wil be sharing more easy-to-follow GIY recipes on its social media channels in the coming weeks, so customers can have a go at making their favourite menu items at home while Greggs shops are shut during the covid-19 lockdown.
How to make a 'GIY' Greggs Sausage, Bean and Cheese Melt at home
Ingredients:
- Beans and sausage (you could use a tin of baked beans with pork sausage)
- Cheese
- Puff pastry
- An egg
Method:
- Cut two squares of pastry. Brush the edges with beaten egg wash.
- Squash beans, place on top of one square of pastry and sprinkle with grated cheese.
- Cover with the mixture with the second pastry square, fork the edges, brush the pastry with egg wash and pop in the oven for 20 mins at 180C or until golden brown.
