How to Lob the Ball To Yourself and Perform a Blade Shot in Rematch

It’s no surprise that volleys are the go-to shots in Rematch, as they are both extremely fast and as addictive to score with as you can imagine. But although performing the move out of a rainbow flick might be easy, many players are known to go one step further and lob the ball to themselves for what is called a Blade Shot.

To help you replicate that and give even the most experienced keeper a cold sweat via a killer first touch, here’s how to lob the ball to yourself and perform Blade Shots in Rematch.

How To Perform Blade Shots In Rematch

You can perform a Blade Shot in Rematch by first tapping the ball and performing a Soft Lob toward your chosen direction. This is a must, as your player won’t be able to reach the ball following regular lobs. Now, enter Extra Effort to catch up to the ball and then either press or hold the shooting input to perform a Blade Shot. To get the most out of the shot, I recommend tapping and lobbing the ball to the side to displace the keeper and stretch the goal.

To recap, here’s a breakdown of how to perform Blade Shots in Rematch. Keep in mind that all of the inputs below are representative of the game’s standard controller and mouse & keyboard presets.

  • Push the ball forward either while making a run or with a first touch (X/A on controller and Space on M&K)
  • Perform a Soft Lob (R1+X+◻/RB+A+X on controller and X on M&K)
  • Enter Extra Effort to catch up to the ball (Double-tap the run input)
  • Either hold the shooting input or tap it at the moment the cursor appears over the ball to perform a Blade Shot. Don’t forget to aim carefully.

How To Practice Blade Shots

Apart from the obvious choice of heading to Practice and repeatedly performing the shot until it becomes second nature following a tap, starting the Shooting Range Drill and focusing on performing only Blade Shots can also help. The reason? The timer will add a little bit of pressure and be a great way to ease yourself into performing it during matches.
