Among the fun tricks in skate. that you can use in between lines, there is the classic Hippie Jump. It’s a simple move where your skater jumps off the board and then lands back on it. On its own, it’s not the flashiest trick. But when you slip it into a transition, that’s when it shines. It adds a clean bit of polish that makes your line stand out.
That’s not even all, you can also add flips and turns during your Hippie Jumps to add even more flair to your combos. Plus, the Hippie jump is a relatively easy trick to do, but the game doesn’t cover it early on. So, here is a simple guide on how to Hippie Jump in skate., as well as how to add flips and turns to make it even flashy.
How To Hippie Jump In Skate

For the Hippie Jump, you don’t even need the Flick-it system. It’s just pressing two buttons together. The trick is relatively very simple to do. Here are the steps:
- Get on your Skateboard, and start pushing to get some speed. You can do the trick while standing, but does that really look cool?
- Once you have some speed, just press the X and A buttons together.
- If you hold the buttons together for longer and release them, the jump will be even higher.
It’s important to note that the Hippie jump works best on a flat surface or something close to flat. It won’t work on a steep ramp. You also have to be on the ground to do the trick.
How To Make The Hippie Jump Better
On its own, the Hippie Jump is fine, but you can make it even better. Here are a couple of things you can do to add more flair to the standard Hippie jump.
Swap Sides Mid-Air
Like doing Reverts? You can do something similar during a Hippie Jump.
- Start a Hippie Jump.
- While airborne, move the Left Stick left or right to spin.
- You’ll land facing the opposite way. It’s basically a mid-air Revert.
Frontflips And Backflips
You’ve probably seen players flipping in the air around San Vansterdam — it’s basically a meme at this point. But it’s also a pretty sick trick.
- Start a Hippie Jump.
- While airborne, press and hold RT + LT (Xbox) / R2 + L2 (PlayStation).
- Push the Left Stick up for a frontflip or down for a backflip.
It’s easy to pull off and consistent once you get the hang of it.
Hippie Jump Off A Railing Or Bench
One of the coolest uses for the Hippie Jump is clearing objects by letting your board pass under while you go over. There are plenty of perfect spots in San Vansterdam for this.
Want to take it further? You can even Hippie Jump off a railing, leave your board behind, then press Y on Xbox (Triangle on PlayStation) to call your board back and land safely. It’s the kind of ridiculous trick that only works in a game — but that’s what makes it so fun.
