How to get Gold in Duck Side of the Moon

You’ll need plenty of Gold if you want to complete the story in Duck Side of the Moon. Not only is it used to craft the Explosion Gadget, which several quests require, you'll also have to get some to upgrade your mining tool to the second and third tiers.

Though its uses are relatively straightforward, finding Gold in Duck Side of the Moon can be a real head-scratcher. It’s not like Ferrite or Groovium, which are just out in the open for you to harvest. Luckily, though, once you know the location, you can find enough of it to meet all your crafting needs.

Here’s where to get Gold in Duck Side of the Moon.

Gold location in Duck Side of the Moon

Gold can be found in the Quarry, or the mining area, of the second map in Duck Side of the Moon. More specifically, it appears in the tunnels where you had to ignite explosives to restore power to the town.

Look for gold, rectangular bars sticking out of the tunnel walls, like the ones shown in the image above. Once you’ve found a node, shoot it with a charged-up blast from your mining tool. This will cause the Gold to drop, and if you’re nearby, it will automatically be added to your inventory. You should be able to find at least five to six Gold in this area at once, which gives you enough of the resource to simultaneously craft both the Explosion Gadget and the Mining Tier II from the crafting station located on your ship.

The Mining Tier II upgrade allows you to harvest more rigid materials, like Rubies–essential resources used to make even more gizmos and gadgets. The Explosion Gadget, as its name suggests, allows you to blow up crumbling walls to access new areas. In the mines, where you find Gold, there’s a crumbling wall with an NPC named Hugo hiding behind it. If you return to the mines with an Explosion Gadget, you can destroy the wall to find Hugo and a chest containing three more Gold, which will help you craft even more recipes.

Though the Explosion Gadget and the mining tool upgrades are likely the first two recipes you’ll make using Gold, you can also use the resource to construct the Scanner, which helps you locate hidden rewards, as well as the third mining tool upgrade to harvest even more materials.
