How to Get Corrupted Items in 99 Nights in the Forest

Corrupted Tools are some of the most powerful and dangerous items added in 99 Nights in the Forest, alongside the Hard Mode and Corruption System updates. These tools have much better stats, but also force you to actively manage corruption while using them. So, to help you get your hands on these, this guide explains how to unlock them, what each corrupted item does, and how to survive long enough to escape corruption.

Corrupted Tools are exclusive to Hard Mode, which you need to manually activate early in a run. From Day 1, you can access the Research Outpost once your campsite reaches Level 2. However, Hard Mode itself does not begin automatically.

To activate it, you need to enter the basement of the Research Outpost and pull the lever with your Roblox username on it before Day 3 ends. When Day 3 begins, a cutscene plays, and the Corruption System becomes active across the map.

Once Hard Mode is live, Corrupted Chests begin spawning. These chests are the only source of Corrupted Tools and can be opened after dealing with corruption-related threats such as rifts, mutated trees, and corrupted animals. The more corruption you clear, the more opportunities you have to access these chests safely.

Corrupted Revolver Weapon High-damage firearm effective against corrupted animals and cultists
Corrupted Shotgun Weapon Burst close-range damage, ideal for using in rift zones
Corrupted Armour Armor Increases survivability but accelerates corruption buildup

How to Escape Corruption in 99 Nights in the Forest

Once Hard Mode begins, corruption spreads through Rifts, visible as glowing purple cracks surrounded by corrupted trees and animals. These rifts are the main source of corruption escalation, and you need to deal with them immediately.

To cleanse a rift, you have to destroy all corrupted trees around it and eliminate every corrupted animal in the area. As the rift weakens, the purple glow fades, reducing the global corruption level.

Ignoring rifts causes debuffs such as faster hunger drain, food rot spores, stronger cultist waves, and reduced passive healing. The Research Monitor Blueprint, found in Research Outpost chests, is an essential item. It lets you track active rifts, corruption level, and current debuffs directly from your base.
