How to get Black Oil in Abiotic Factor
Black Oil is mostly obtained from Inkfish by butchering them at the Chef’s Counter in Abiotic Factor. Well, Black Oil isn’t the only item you get by butchering them. Killing these fish also gives you:
- 2 Raw Inkfish Filet
- 1 Fish Bones
- 1 Fish Oil
- Night Essence
- Black Oil
Raw Inkfish Filet. Fish Bones and Fish Oil have 100 percent drop rates, while there’s a 10 percent chance of getting Black Oil. That means you have to catch as many Inkfish from the well in The Night Realm.

The best way to know you’ve caught an Inkfish is if black water particles start appearing. After reaching Crafting Level 2, you can build a Chef’s Counter by combining 8 Wood Planks, 2 Power Supply Units, 4 Metal or Hydro Pipes, and 4 Metal Scrap. You have to head to the right side of the Chef’s Counter to butcher Inkfish.
Remember, Inkfish have a decay limit of 100. Once completely decayed, you get Rotten Fish, which is of no use for getting Black Oil.
