Forza Horizon 6 is heavily steeped in Japanese culture, and one of the clearest examples of this is the giant mech that’s present at the Horizon Event. This mech in Forza Horizon 6 is called Chaser Zero, and it’s a massive racing robot that appears in one of the game’s early Showcase Events, as well as the ultimate landmark of the Horizon Festival during free roam.
The race is called Mech My Day, and it’s as anime and over the top as any showcase has ever been in the Horizon series.
What is the giant mech in Forza Horizon 6?
The giant mech is Chaser Zero, and it was first teased at the end of the game’s Developer Direct. In-game, Chaser Zero is a huge robot designed to race alongside your car in the Mech My Day Showcase Event.
Chaser Zero was inspired by Japan’s mecha culture, and even has real-world inspiration in life-size moving RX-78F00 Gundam at the Gundam Factory Yokohama, an entertainment complex at Yamashita Pier. The now-closed attraction featured an 18-meter Gundam that could move its limbs, turn its head, and even perform anime poses.
Unfortunately, the exhibition was not meant to be a permanent fixture, as safety concerns and maintenance costs were mounting through the pandemic. The location closed its doors permanently in March of 2024.
Forza Horizon 6 is not using an official Gundam, but the resemblance and the whole vibe are close enough, with it performing anime moves.
How to unlock the Mech My Day race
As is usually the case with Showcase Events, it’s more of a spectacle race than a fully competitive one. You can’t lose the showcase against the Chaser Zero, as it breaks down right before the finish line.
To unlock the Mech My Day Showcase Event, progress through the Horizon Festival campaign until you fill your Green Wristband progress. Once the Green Wristband bar is complete, Mech My Day appears as the major Wristband Event you need to finish before earning the Blue Wristband.
The fastest way to reach it is to complete Horizon Festival races and activities across Japan.
- Complete Horizon Festival races.
- Finish PR Stunts and Skills when they appear nearby.
- Keep filling the Green Wristband progress.
- Start Mech My Day when it appears on the map.
- Finish the Showcase Event to move into the next Wristband tier.
The event is early enough that most players will see it naturally while following the main campaign. You do not need to reach Legend Island or the final Wristband first. You can also replay the Mech My Day Showcase Event at any point after completing it once.
Where to find Chaser Zero for a photo

- Fast Travel there.
- Chaser Zero will be visible as soon as you’re loaded into the location.
- Take a photo of the mech to complete the photography challenge.
