How to find 'secret' Poundland discounts - including where sale items are hidden

Poundland is full of hidden sale items if you know where to look, saving you even more money at the discounter.

Bargain hunting experts have shared their top tips for nabbing a deal - including where to find reductions.

Mum-of-two Naomi Willis, 37, who runs the money-saving blog Skint Dad with her husband Ricky, reckons the best time to visit is early in the morning.

Speaking to The Sun, she said this is when you are most likely to find food that is nearing its sell by date.

She said: “The last time I got discounted food, there was a ready meal and a couple of sandwiches.”

But going early might not be the only time to get a deal - the Mirror has also reported on bargain hunters nabbing deals just before doors close.

This would mean you need to venture down to your nearest Poundland around an hour before doors shut.

Say your store closes at 5pm, your best bet would be getting there at 4pm.

Poundland reductions can see some foods cut to 50p or 25p instead of their usual £1 price tag.

Do keep an eye out for items that look reduced though, as some Poundland products cost 50p to begin with.

For example, we spotted Pot Noodles selling for 50p over the weekend.

Some items in Poundland can cost up to £4 after the discounter rolled out a new price structure in 2019.

Other bargain hunters say the best place to find discounts is by the tills.

But shoppers are warned discounts will vary between stores and there is no guarantee that you will also find a deal.

If Poundland is already cheap enough for you, and you want to find the quietest time to visit, there is a nifty tool you can use from Google.

Google has a “popular times” which tells you how busy a store is likely to be in real-time.

It also tells you typical busy times during the week so you can plan your trip.

To find times for your local store, Googling the specific shop you want to visit in the "maps" section of the search engine.

Scroll down past the opening hours and you'll see the "popular times" graph - this will be made up of blue bars to represent typical shopping behaviour.

The higher the blue bar, the more customers are usually shopping at that time.

There will also be a pink bar to represent how many customers Google believes to be in the store right now.

While the quiet times might not always be best for bargains, it could be useful for those who want to avoid crowds.
