As temperatures are expected to plummet as low as -15°C in parts of the UK over the coming days, with several inches of snowfall suggested, here's some useful knowledge about how to defrost a car's windscreen quickly.
Promising a "better way" to defrost a windscreen than using an ice scraper or a defroster, meteorologist Ken Weathers suggests a simple solution of rubbing alcohol and water from a spray bottle.
Mr Weathers says he mixes 1/3 of a cup of water with 2/3 of a cup rubbing alcohol to produce the defrosting spray.
He says it works because rubbing alcohol has a freezing point of -128°C.
The Met Office is urging people to prepare for "very difficult travelling conditions" over the next few days, with possible disruption to public transport and power supplies.
