Like most gacha games, Neverness to Everness lets you choose a male or a female protagonist who’s suffering from amnesia. Unlike most gacha games, though, it lets you swap between the two at any point in the story.
While NTE doesn’t explain how this works, there’s a simple yet relatively long process involved. To change your character’s gender in NTE, go to the Settings and look for the Others tab. Here, you’ll find the option to switch the Appraiser’s Gender. Once you select it, it will ask you to complete a side quest called In the Reflection to unlock this feature.
How to complete the In the Reflection side quest and change your gender in NTE
After you begin the In The Reflection side quest, head to the center of Hanaku Street, where you activate the first Wertheimer Tower. Here, you can find two girls talking about a magical mirror.
Exhaust the dialogues, and they will guide you towards the Good Joe Vintage mirror shop in the neighbourhood. Its location will be marked on your map, so finding it shouldn’t be an issue.
Once you’re in the shop, talk to Good Joe, who, you will quickly find out, isn’t anything like his name. The mirror he’s selling is an ordinary one without any anomalies. However, Good Joe will guide you towards the next step of your destination – the Gold Apple Collection Hall.
You can find it northeast of the Bridge Crossings, though it’s quite a walk from Hanaku Street. We recommend finishing the Photo Studio quest in Prologue 2 before heading that side, as it gives you access to your first vehicle in the game.
Once you’re at the Gold Apple Collection Hall, talk to a museum guide named Dolores, who will tell you there’s no such object here, and guide you further north towards a Grocery Shop Owner. It’s quite a trek, but there are plenty of cherry blossoms and distant valleys to behold that make up for it.
At the grocery shop, talk to Kookie, who will let you take a peek at the mysterious water basin. Here’s where you’ll get the first glimpse of your “other half.” And that’s pretty much it! Talk to Kookie once more to end the quest.
From here on, you can switch your Appraiser’s gender every 24 hours for free. However, keep in mind that doing so will return you to the login screen. If you’re in the middle of an important quest, it’s best to wait until you have finished that.
