You should build Stone Roads in Super Fantasy Kingdom to upgrade houses and get extra Workers when building new houses gets too expensive. This usually happens after you build your third house for 16 Wood. Upgrading the Castle to the next level to increase your capacity to 32 will take a bit longer.
To build Stone Roads, click or interact with your Quarry to open its menu, then use the Upgrade button and pay 5 Boards to unlock the Road Builder.

The Road Builder, an NPC in Super Fantasy Kingdom, will then start building Stone Roads on his own as long as you leave him active. If you see a yellow star when you hover over your Quarry, the Road builder is active. If the star is dimmed, it's inactive and not building Stone Roads. Since he will automatically build Stone Roads using 1 Coin per stretch of road, you may want to disable him when you need to save Coins.
He starts from the Quarry and builds the Stone Road towards the closest building that's not touching one yet. When a stretch is built, he returns to the Quarry before continuing to work on the next road.
You'll be able to upgrade a house when a Stone Road touches it, like in the picture below. The builder's constant movement is the key reason to build your Quarry next to two small plots of land where you can place your Houses. This way, when the Road Builder starts working, he will quickly get to the houses and enable the upgrades for you earlier than if the houses were far from the Quarry.

Then, you can spend raw Ore to upgrade your House and increase the number of Workers available, according to the numbers below:
| House Upgrades | Workers available | Ores needed for the next upgrade |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | 1 | 4 |
| 1 | 2 | 8 |
| 2 | 3 | 12 |
| 3 | 4 | 16 |
| 4 | 5 | Can't be upgraded |
Since you'll need Ores for the upgrade, remember to put some of your new workers on the Goldmine to gather more Ore to fuel your economy.
