Among the various grab tricks you can do in skate., some are just better than the rest. Tricks like the Superdude, Airwalk, Tailwalk, and Christ Air are some of the coolest grab tricks you can do in the game. Among these, there is also the classic Benihana. It’s one of the oldest tricks in skateboarding.
Much like other grab tricks in skate., the game only covers basic grabs in the tutorials, and you are left to discover the rest on your own. So, here is a quick guide on how to Benihana in skate. and how you can chain it into different tricks.
How To Benihana In Skate

Unlike other grabs, the Benihana is a bit difficult to do. You might have trouble doing it consistently at the start. But once you get the timing down, the trick becomes quite easy. So, here is how you do the Benihana.
The Benihana is done in the air. You can use whatever you want to get up in the air. You can start verts, but you can also try some of the mega ramps spread across San Vansterdam. They give you a lot of height and time to get the trick down. Verts are good, but you don’t have a lot of time in the air, and getting the trick down in that short period is quite difficult in the beginning.
- When you’re in the air, push and hold your right stick up.
- Then, press RT + X (Xbox) or R2 + Square (PlayStation).
- You need to do these inputs one after the other; it doesn’t work if you do the inputs together.
That’s pretty much how you do the Benihana in skate. It’s all about getting the sequence of inputs right. It can be a bit difficult to get the timing right initially. But practice, and you will be able to pull it off consistently. It’s one of the coolest grabs in the game and is worth adding to your bag of tricks.
A cool grab makes your sequences stand out and look flashy, and Benihana is no exception. Try this trick in San Vansterdam and see for yourself how clean the trick looks.
Combos With Benihana
There are many tricks that you can combo with Benihana to make a sick line. However, it depends on where you are performing the trick. If you are doing it off a quarterpipe, there aren’t a lot of options since the air time is quite short. But, if you are doing the trick after a mega ramp, here are a couple of things you can do.
- Benihana > Spin/Flip: Once you are doing the Benihana, hold your left stick left/right for a spin or up/down for a flip.
- Benihana > Christ Air: One of my favorite transitions. Start with the Benihana, then do the inputs for the Christ Air.
- Benihana > Manual: If you are jumping over an object, you can do the Benihana over it and then land into a clean manual and maybe end with a revert or powerslide for some extra points.
