Ange Postecoglou could reportedly have replaced Thomas Frank, the man who succeeded him at Tottenham Hotspur, as manager of Brentford.
The former Celtic manager was relieved of his duties in North London just over a week after he led Spurs to Europa League glory.
It was the club's first major honour in 17 years, although that wasn't enough to convince chairman Daniel Levy and the board that Postecoglou was the right man to have at the helm long term.

They resultantly got rid of him and moved to bring in Brentford's Frank.
In what would've been an 'extraordinary' sequence of events, according to The Athletic, Brentford contacted Postecoglou about replacing the Dane.
Although informal discussions were said to have been held, the Australian wasn't interviewed, as both parties agreed that the move wasn't in the best interest of all involved.
Brentford instead promoted from within and appointed Keith Andrews as their new manager. Andrews, a former Republic of Ireland international, joined Brentford as their set-piece coach last summer and worked under Frank for a year.
The club's director of football, Phil Giles, described the appointment as 'low-risk'.
He said [The Athletic]: "It’s more risky to go and get a coach we don’t know from a club where the environment might be different or maybe people around them made them successful. This is actually quite a low-risk appointment because I know how good Keith is."
