How Notts County fans reacted to South African takeover statement

The South African consortium hoping to buy Notts County broke their silence on Wednesday, as they look to seal a takeover at Meadow Lane.

The group's frontman Terry Pritchard met with Notts chairman Alan Hardy on Wednesday morning to discuss the finer details of the deal.

And in a statement released by the legal firm  IPS Law the South African group confirmed they had submitted their offer on Friday.

It read: "I can confirm that we made an offer (for the club) on Friday.

“We look forward to completing the takeover as swiftly as possible.

“Terry Pritchard, who is advising the consortium, met with Alan Hardy today to discuss the finer detail of the offer.

"There is a genuine desire by the consortium to conclude matters ASAP, to attract players to the club in time for pre-season.”

Fans were quick to hit Twitter to give their reaction to the news in what has been a long-running saga since the club was put up for sale in January.

Some ranged from the humorous to the serious as Notts hope to welcome new owners as they prepare for their maiden voyage into non-league football next season.
