How much council tax is set to rise in Salford

Salford council is set to approve its budget next week.

After years of huge slashes, 2020/21 will be a ‘no cuts’ budget, although the city mayor Paul Dennett has already said he’s fearful for the following year’s budget, saying there is concern in Salford about the government's fair funding review.

But this year's balanced budget in the city mean that the biggest change resident will see this year is a rise in their council tax - at 3.99pc.

That includes a 2pc increase in adult social care.

Mayor Dennett has said that increasing council tax is a regressive form of taxation but argues that his hand was forced by government who assumed an increase.

Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham will also raise the part of bills that pays for the police – and his mayoral precept.

But what will it actually mean for your own personal budget if you live in Salford?:

  • Band A properties will see a £57.95 increase
  • Band B properties will see a £67.63 increase
  • Band C properties will see a £77.27 increase
  • Band D properties will see a £86.94 increase
  • Band E properties will see a £106.24 increase
  • Band F properties will see a £125.57 increase
  • Band G properties will see a £144.89 increase
  • Band H properties will see a £173.88 increase

Single person households will pay 25pc less.
