How Martin O'Neill's City Ground reign ranks compared to past Nottingham Forest managers

Nottingham Forest have sacked Martin O'Neill after just five months in charge.

Less than 20 minutes after confirming his departure, the Reds announced Sabri Lamouchi as their new manager.

During O'Neill's 19 games at the helm the Reds may have fallen out of play-off contention, but the record that he departs with may surprise Forest fans.

Winning eight games during his time in charge, including the final three games of the season and an East Midlands derby, the two-time European Cup winning player can boast the joint-third best win ratio in the club's rich history.

Based on that statistic alone, only Billy Davies since the turn of the millennium has proved as successful in charge as the 67-year-old, who during his short time back at the club won as many games as Ron Atkinson and Steve McClaren combined.

He leaves the club having won eight of his 19 games, drawing three and losing eight.

Best win ratio's of former Nottingham Forest managers (ten games or more):

Brian Clough - 46.2%

Dave Bassett - 42.9%

Martin O'Neill - 42.1%

Billy Davies - 42.1%

Colin Calderwood - 41.9%

Win ratio's of last five permanent Nottingham Forest managers:

Martin O'Neill - 42.1%

Aitor Karanka - 30.8%

Mark Warburton - 40.5%

Phillipe Montanier - 30%

Dougie Freedman - 32.8%

Worst win ratio's of former Nottingham Forest managers (ten games or more):

Matt Giles - 27.7%
