How Market Square incident is affecting buses and tram travel

Buses are being diverted away from Friar Lane and Beastmarket Hill as police attend an incident in Nottingham city centre.

Nottingham City Council has confirmed Friar Lane, with its junction with Maid Marian Way to Spaniel Row, is closed.

Tram travel is understood not to be affected - but bus services are taking another route around the city as a police cordon blocks access to Friar Lane outside Costa coffee.

Nottingham City Transport's navy line routes 1,3 and 48 are affected.

NCT said its Navy line will remain on Maid Marian Way but advised passengers to use the stop named M2 (outside the Lighting Shop on Maid Marian Way).

Trentbarton tweeted about the police incident on Friar Lane and said "we currently have staff in the area directing customers to the closest stops".

Nottingham Travelwise said in a tweet that buses were diverting down Spaniel Row, and please allow extra time for your journey or use an alternative route.

Nottingham City Transport said on twitter "there is an incident on Friar Lane. Our Navy line will remain on Maid Marian Way".
