How Manchester United fans reacted to Wilfred Ndidi's transfer comments

Manchester United fans have urged the club to make a move for Leicester City's Wilfred Ndidi after he admitted he was 'flattered' by being linked to the club.

The Nigerian enjoyed an excellent season at the King Power stadium, as the rough and tumble defensive-midfielder proved to be the fulcrum of an otherwise attack minded midfield.

His consistent performances have earned him links to several high-profile clubs this summer, including Arsenal and Liverpool, and when asked about United the 22-year-old revealed he was flattered.

"I am flattered when hearing such a thing," Ndidi told Goal.

"It is very good to hear about that interest from big clubs, but there is nothing on the ground so I won't care about it.

"I am focusing on AFCON with Nigeria now, and then pre-season with Leicester City. We have a great manager with ambition to compete with big clubs in the Premier League."

United may well be in high-demand for a new midfielder this summer. After already losing Ander Herrera on a free the club also faces the prospect of losing record signing Paul Pogba after he admitted he fancies a 'new challenge' elsewhere, with Real Madrid and Juventus circling. Though the club do remain confident he will stay.

But should the Frenchman depart then United fans believe that Ndidi would be a more than capable replacement in the middle of the park.
