How last year's Masked Singer winner fooled everyone for 8 weeks by faking accent

Joss Stone managed to fool everyone last year as she faked her accent for 8 weeks on The Masked Singer.

The singer, who was born in Dover, went on to win the competition with her finally being revealed as the Sausage.

She had competed on the hidden identity singing competition, while heavily pregnant and managed to throw all the judges off by using a fake accent and Joss herself said that she thought her walk put off the judges.

The 34-year-old found her time on the show to be a lot of fun, with her saying that preconceptions of her went out of the window as she took on the persona of Sausage, which was served in a cone of chips.

She said: "Isn’t it amazing? I don’t think it’s the voice. I learned that at the beginning. It’s got to be about the laughs.

"It's really just being able to have fun and not be judged as well. I know you’re getting judged for your performance but not really, not in the same way. We all have our preconceptions of somebody.

"All of that was out the window. It’s just music, it’s just a laugh. And that’s what it came down to. It wasn’t anything too serious. That was the best bit about it."

While Joss' big reveal at the end of the 2021 series left all the judges shocked, guesses have already started rolling in for the third series of the show - which launched last night.

Gary Lineker was assumed to be the mystery man behind the Doughnuts character that debuted last night - which he wasn't too pleased by.

Taking to Twitter he quickly shut down rumours that he was on the show, although that hasn't convinced fans that he's not the man behind the mask.

One viewer was convinced that Doughnuts was secretly Gary, until he started singing.

They wrote: "Thought Gary Lineker for Doughnut - walking and eating crisps. Singing sounded nothing like him though."

Gary shut down any rumours of him appearing on the show, tweeting: "You’ll never see me on that show… or Strictly, ever."

But some fans think it's an attempt to throw them off, with one responding: "METHINKS THE GENTLEMAN DOTH PROTEST TOO MUCH!"

But not everyone is trying to not be linked to the show, with ex-TOWIE star Mark Wright tweeting out a doughnut emoji prompting fans to jump to conclusions.

Although viewers aren't convinced that Mark would make it that obvious if he were on the show, and they think it's unlikely for a married couple to both star on the show at the same time.

With them hedging their bets that Michelle Keegan is the famous face hiding under the Firework costume.

* The Masked Singer continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV
