How jubilant England fans reacted to Harry Kane's goal as Three Lions beat Germany at Wembley

Harry Kane scored his first goal of Euro 2020 and England's second of the day as the Three Lions defeated Germany 2-0 to advance to the quarter-finals.

Kane, 27, had struggled for confidence prior to this game, after a rather tame group stage for the England striker.

But today's goal when it really mattered the most may have provided lift-off for England, and more specifically Kane himself, as Three Lions fans across the country start to dream big.

Raheem Sterling had given Gareth Southgate's side the lead after 75 minutes, but the Tottenham striker's goal eased the nerves of all the fans in Wembley Stadium and across the country four minutes from time.

Here's how fans in Croydon celebrated after seeing England's talisman end the contest against their bitter rivals.

Kane's first goal of this tournament now means he has scored a total of 36 goals for club and country since the beginning of 2020/2021.

He will be hoping that this one provides the platform to build on, as England progress through the rest of the tournament.

The delight and relief of scoring his first goal in this year's competition was clear for everyone to see on social media.

The 27-year-old took to Twitter to express his feelings after that gruelling and tense match between the two historic rivals.

Kane tweeted: "Absolutely buzzing!! Massive performance in front of a rocking Wembley!!! Get in there!!"

Away from the tournament, speculation around the striker's future will continue.

Manchester City are waiting patiently for England's tournament to finish before they reportedly make their move to prise away the Spurs striker from the club.

It will take upwards of £150million to even make Daniel Levy consider this potential deal.

Next up for the Tottenham striker and the rest of the team in the quarter-finals will be one of Sweden or Ukraine.

The winner of that contest will take on Southgate's confident bunch in Rome on Saturday.
