Several people are feared dead and several houses, churches and schools damaged after Hurricane Matthew, the fiercest Caribbean storm in almost a decade, ripped into Haiti and the Dominican Republic early on Tuesday.
The category 4 storm made landfall near Les Anglais on the western tip of Haiti at 7am EDT (11am GMT), the US hurricane centre said, bringing 145 mph winds and storm surges that pounded coastal villages.
