How did Her's die? Liverpool band's Stephen Fitzpatrick and Audun Laading killed in US

Fans are in mourning after the members and manager of Liverpool indie band Her's died suddenly in the United States on Wednesday.

Tragedy struck as band members Stephen Fitzpatrick and Audun Laading and their manager Trevor Engelbrektson were on their way to their penultimate gig in Santa Ana, California, on Wednesday.

Just hours earlier they tweeted a final message saying it was "almost time for home," and that the "tour has gone swimmingly."

In a statement posted on Facebook , the band’s label Heist Or Hit confirmed their shock deaths, telling followers, "We are all heartbroken. Their energy, vibrancy and talent came to define our label."

The statement continued, "As humans, they were warm, gentle and hilarious. Each time they stopped by the office made for an uplifting experience.

"To say they were close would be an underestimation of a friendship that was genuinely beautiful to witness; they loved one another like brothers.

"Musically, Her’s were astonishing. An aptitude for melody, fun, and entertainment combined with a complexity that was as sophisticated as it was stylish."

Their vehicle is believed to have collided with a Nissan pick-up truck that was allegedly being driven the wrong way down the highway in the early hours of the morning.

Stephen, 24, from Barrow-in-Furness and Audun, 25, from Norway died along with manager Trevor, from Minneapolis and the driver of the pick-up truck.

Fire tore through both vehicles, and police spokesman Kameron Lee said the devastating scene was one officers "will never forget."

"We don't know the exact speeds, but two heavy vehicles coming into contact at full speed, the impact is huge and devastating," he told Mail Online. "Both vehicles caught fire due to this impact and now four people are gone."

Stephen and Auden met at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and released released their first album in 2012 entitled Songs of Her's.

This was their second US tour which had involved 16 sold out dates to promote their latest album, Invitation to Her's.
