How Celtic players rated in double-clinching Scottish Cup final

Celtic clinched a double this afternoon by putting Dunfermline to the sword in the Scottish Cup final. Daizen Maeda and Arne Engels set them on their way and then the resisted a Dunfermline second wind before Kelechi Iheanacho scored a third. Josh Cooper netted a late consolation. Here's how Celtic's players rated.

Viljami Sinisalo - 5

Made a couple of decent interventions but nearly conceded a very poor goal in the opening stages and spilled the ball for Dunfermline’s consolation goal.

Alistair Johnston - 8

A solid defensive display and linked well with his teammates. His ball for Maeda’s opening goal was superb.

Auston Trusty - 7

A slight wobble in the second half aside, the American dealt with what was thrown at him.

Liam Scales - 8

Followed his excellent goal-line clearance with a comfortable defensive game and several outstanding balls over the top to attack.

Kieran Tierney - 9

Showed his obvious quality throughout the game and near single-handedly pinned the Pars in during the first half.

Callum McGregor - 7

A bog standard Callum McGregor performance is still one of full control, intelligence and commitment. Breezed through the game.

Arne Engels - 7

Took his goal well, even if the attempt to save it was pathetic. Otherwise, it was another classic Engels performance: industrious and competent.

Benjamin Nygren - 9

One of his best non-goalscoring games for Celtic. Always positive with his passing and involved in most of Celtic’s best moves, including their third goal.

Yang - 4

Celebrated his new contract by being comfortably Celtic’s poorest performer on the pitch. Most of his crosses were wayward and he lost possession all too often.

Daizen Maeda - 8

If this was him signing off then what a way to do it. His opening goal was tremendous and he put the Dunfermline defence on edge throughout the game.

James Forrest - 6

A quiet game for the veteran winger. So much of the play came down the opposite wing when he was on the pitch and Dunfermline rarely troubled him going back the way either.

Kelechi Iheanacho - 8

The man has the best touch of any footballer in Scotland and he showed that with his superbly finished goal. Could have had another late on if he wasn’t let down by what always lets him down: his lack of pace and energy.

Substitutes

Sebastian Tounekti - 3

Did little to contribute when he came on late.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - 4

On too late to really affect the game, but showed his obvious class once or twice in a short cameo.

Marcelo Sarracchi - 4

Brought his trademark energy and would perhaps have earned a higher score had he slammed home his last minute chance.
