The Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militia announced on Monday that one of its commanders, Saleh al-Sammad, was killed.

Sources confirmed that he was killed in an air strike by the Arab coalition to restore legitimacy in Yemen, reported al-Arabiya television. The strike was carried out on Thursday in the al-Hodeidah region.

Sammad was head of the so-called Houthi political council and the second most wanted figure on a list released by the Arab coalition. A reward of 20 million dollars had been put up for any information that would lead to his arrest.

The sources said that the coalition strike targeted his vehicle as he was traveling in southern Hodeidah. Over 20 leading Houthi figures were also killed in the attack.

Yemeni government spokesman Rajeh Badi told al-Arabiya that Sammad’s death dealt a strong blow to the Houthis.

His death is the latest in human losses among the Houthi command ranks.
