Housebuilder hits £1 million target for cancer charity

Housebuilder Bellway has reached a major milestone in its fundraising work for Cancer Research UK, as it hit a total of £1 million.

Since the charity was announced as Bellway’s nominated charity in 2016, staff across the country have worked hard to raise funds.

The team at Bellway East Midlands has played its part in the fundraising efforts.

The combined efforts of Bellway’s staff across the country means that the £1 million fundraising target has been hit six months earlier than expected.

Gary Mills, managing director for Bellway East Midlands, said: “We are over the moon that we have been able to support Cancer Research UK for the past two years, and I am so proud of everyone at Bellway who has worked hard to achieve this fantastic total.

“Cancer Research is working incredibly hard to beat cancer, and it is so important to us that we help them to continue their hard work.

“We are looking forward to supporting the charity for a third year in a row, and we hope we can continue to raise even more money for this amazing cause.”

Francesca Pearson, from Cancer Research, added: "Cancer Research UK are proud to have been in partnership with Bellway for two-and-a-half years. What we’ve achieved together has been incredible and to now be celebrating raising a tremendous £1 million for vital cancer research is an awesome achievement."

Bellway East Midlands is building new homes across Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire.
