House where 'previous owner would live rent free' on sale for £350k

A house has been put on sale in Hertfordshire at considerably less than the going rate for nearby properties, but there's a catch - the previous owner wants to live there rent free once the sale is complete.

The would-be buyer would get the semi-detached property at the knock-down price of £350,000, but would have to permanently live with a total stranger.

The property, advertised on rightmove.co.uk, is a three bedroom semi-detached home with a garage and driveway in St Albans.

The seller wants to remain in the home and not chip in for rent.

A description of the property read: “Calling all investors!

“Leaders are pleased to bring to the market this extended three bedroom semi-detached house with garage and driveway.

“The current vendor would like to remain at the property rent free as a long term tenant.”

And the Leaders Sales property could be purchased by a prospective buyer for £350,000.

The property does not appear to have any self-contained accommodation where the owner could live privately, according to floor plans.

Nearby properties with a similar number of bedrooms have been posted as costing between £440,000 and £725,000, according to Rightmove.

Leaders Sales estate agents was approached for comment by the Standard.
