House making neighbours' lives a misery shut down by police

Police have shut down a house after people living there made their neighbours' lives a misery.

Officers from Walton Lane community policing team secured a closure order for an address on Morningside Road in Norris Green at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Tuesday. The order was granted after repeated incidents of anti-social behaviour, crime and disorder at the home.

Police apply to the courts for a closure order, leaving the offending property tinned or boarded up completely for a period of time - usually around three months. The orders, which can be requested by Merseyside Police or the council, are put in place to allow communities to settle down and return to normal, while the people responsible for causing trouble have to find somewhere else to live.

Closure orders also mean no-one can enter the flat or house concerned without permission of the court. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said they "work tirelessly" with other agencies to secure orders against people who "cause misery".

A spokesperson for the force said: "Officers from Walton Lane community policing team have been in Liverpool Magistrates' Court today where they secured a closure order on an address on Morningside Road, Norris Green. This is following repeated incidents of anti-social behaviour, crime and disorder at the address.

"Our officers will work tirelessly with partners to secure such orders against people who cause misery within our communities."
