House builders dig deep to raise £5k for Johnstone hospice

A Renfrewshire hospice has received a £5,000 boost thanks to a fundraising event hosted by a housing firm.

Taylor Wimpey West Scotland’s staff summer fundraising event has donated the cash to St Vincent’s Hospice as part of its ongoing commitment to working in partnership with local communities.

This year’s event included a casino and a raffle and through donations by staff, they raised thousands of pounds for the charity that is so close to the hearts of many of the staff.

St Vincent’s Hospice, in Howwood, aims to provide access to the best possible care and support to everyone living with a life-limiting illness in Renfrewshire.

The hospice has an eight-bed inpatient unit with a multi-disciplinary team, a day hospice service providing support with symptom management, community nurse specialists to provide care and support at home, and it provides a range of supportive services to patients and their families.

Commenting on the support it has received from Taylor Wimpey West Scotland – which has a regional office in Paisley – hospice partnerships manager Louise Strachan said: “Taylor Wimpey West Scotland have supported St Vincent’s Hospice for a number of years, and we are overwhelmed by their generosity and care.

“The summer event was such a fantastic day and everyone was so very generous in raising the amazing total of £5,000.

“It is a pleasure to work with David and the team at Taylor Wimpey and we look forward to working with them again soon. Thank you to everyone
involved.”

David Blair, managing director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: “We have been supporting St Vincent’s Hospice for many years now, and we are very proud of the way our staff come together to show their support of this incredible charity.

“As well as our donation of £5,000, our staff get involved in other hospice fundraising initiatives, such as the recent Strictly Come Prancing event that was held at Ingliston.

“Working with local groups and charities is so important to us.”

Taylor Wimpey’s donation to St Vincent’s Hospice is one of the many contributions being made across the UK.
