Hour by hour weather forecast as North East heatwave set to draw to a close

The heatwave is set to come to a close over the weekend with a noticeable drop in temperature exepcted on Saturday.

Though temperatures could still reach up to 31°C, it's estimated that the thermometer will remain in the high teens and low twenties throughout Saturday. It will stay dry, with the chance of rain remaining below 5 percent for the whole day.

The Met Office said: "Mist and low cloud burning back to the coast early morning to leave another fine, hot and sunny day with mostly light winds. A little cooler near the coast. Maximum temperature 31 °C."

Temperatures will drop further on Sunday, with an overcast and cloudy morning, before the sun reappears in the afternoon. On Monday, a yellow weather warning for the region has been issued predicting thunderstorms, heavy rain, and the possibility of hail and frequent lightning.
