Hour-by-hour Met Office forecast shows miserable but dry conditions this weekend

The conditions are looking cloudy but calm across Newcastle and its surrounding areas this weekend, with slightly improved temperatures compared to the went and week wild we've had.

Tomorrow's Met Office prediction across the North East is one of sun coming in spates - bobbing and weaving in and out of the cloud-filled skies all afternoon. Highs of 12C and lows of 7C are predicted.

Sunday is a little more glum, but still remaining dry across the board. Experts predict clouds from start to finish, with overcast skies rolling in mid evening. Temperatures are set to fluctuate between 14C and 9C.

The Met Office says to expect: "Cloud gradually clearing to a bright day. Cooler and cloudier further east. Chance of isolated showers. Cloud thickening from the west overnight bringing patchy rain to western hills.

"Gentle winds. Maximum temperature 12 °C."
