Storm Bella is set to bring heavy rain and gales to Liverpool on Boxing Day, with the Met Office issuing a weather warning ahead of the storm's arrival.
After a relatively calm and cold day on Christmas Day, conditions across the UK will turn increasingly unsettled through Saturday 26 December and into the 27 December with strengthening winds and heavy rain moving in from the north.
An Amber national severe weather warning has been issued for parts of south Wales and across southern England, with gusts expected to reach up to 60-70mph in exposed coastal locations.
A Yellow warning for wind has been issued for Liverpool and the whole of England and Wales from 3pm on Boxing Day, until 12pm on December 27.
The forecast for the North West for Boxing Day onwards said: "Wet and very windy Boxing Day, with inland and coastal gales.
"Strong winds and wintry conditions continue for Sunday and Monday, accompanied by heavy and possibly thundery showers. Cold."
