Eight hotel workers have tested positive for Covid-19 on the holiday islands of Formentera and Menorca.
Five people have been quarantined in Formentera after tests confirmed they had coronavirus.
All have been identified locally as maintenance workers at the unnamed “large-size” hotel on the island, although initially some were said to be waiters.
The hotel remains open because the workers had no contact with guests.
Regional health officials say none have needed hospital treatment following Formentera’s first outbreak of coronavirus.
They also confirmed an employee at another hotel in Menorca had tested positive for Covid-19.
Subsequent tests on two women she lives with, and are also understood to work at the hotel, showed they too had the virus.
They are now self-isolating at nearby apartments which had been set aside for coronavirus patients who did not require hospitalisation.
Around a dozen other people they have had close contact with have also been quarantined and are due to be tested for Covid-19.
Holidaymakers and the rest of the staff at the hotel, which regional health officials have declined to identify, have been informed.
The Balearic Islands currently has 14 active outbreaks of coronavirus, with just over 70 people affected. None are said to be serious.
Formentera can only be reached by boat from Ibiza.
It was one of four islands given a head-start on the Spanish mainland when it began to ease lockdown restrictions during Spain’s state of emergency because of the better health situation there. The other three were in the Canary Islands.
