Designer Jonathan Anderson might be best known for his work as creative director of both JW Anderson and LOEWE, but the award-winning designer is now turning his hand to hospitality.
This July, Anderson will be launching a one-bedroom hotel with champagne brand Ruinart in the heart of Notting Hill.
Based on Anderson’s impressions of Ruinart’s origins in Reims, Champagne, the unusual pop up is inspired by the “vineyards, cellars and iconic cuvées of the Maison” - as well as its storied history dating back to 1729.
Fittingly, it’s called Hotel 1729 and guests are limited to a one night stay, costing £1,200. Given the hotel's single bedroom holds a maximum of two people, and will be open for just ten days, a maximum of twenty guests will be able to book in.
Although further details on the hotel are yet to be announced, the £1,200 price tag will include chauffeur transfers as well as dinner, breakfast and a carefully curated selection of Ruinart cuvées.
If you’re keen to share the experience with your closest friends, Hotel 1729 guests are allowed to bring up to six people to share their dinner, at a cost of £160 per person.
Hotel 1729 will run this year between July 4-14, with further information revealed later this May. This is the second time Ruinart has opened Hotel 1729’s doors, as legendary art director Tom Hingston (who has worked with David Bowie and Christian Dior) helmed last year’s edition - crafting sound and lighting installations for guests.
